Residential Communal Area Cleaning Elderly people

Where experience and real care matters

Part of caring for older people is securing safe, reliable and caring cleaning services, where whoever provides the service understands that attention to the client comes first.

This may be the older person herself or himself, their children who want to support them, or the property manager responsible for a larger residential development.

Second is the proper selection of vetted and trustworthy people. Cleaners need to pay attention to what is needed, be honest and reliable, pick up on any problems and, importantly, never take advantage of a potentially vulnerable person.

There also has to be an understanding of how to approach any problems in the most appropriate and accurate way. At all times, communication needs to be timely and appropriate too.

Beck and Call is known for carrying this operational and moral ethos and for being a trusted cleaning provider, whether for individual clients or larger managed residential properties.

Communal Area Cleaning at Belle Vue, Hampstead

One of our projects was Belle Vue in Hampstead, working with Helicon Properties on a large new residential development for older people.

The complex consisted of four buildings, ranging from four to ten floors, with standard and luxury apartments together with extensive communal areas and facilities including a gym, swimming pool, bar and lobby areas.

We took care to establish the right cleaning service, team and schedule for minimum intrusion and maximum effect. We also needed to be ready to organise individual cleaning services for residents when requested.

This type of residential block and communal area cleaning requires more than simply maintaining entrances and shared spaces. The cleaners and management team need to understand that they are working in people’s homes and around residents who may require additional consideration, consistency and trust.

Although this meant that we were eventually not going to be the direct cleaning provider, during the Covid closure we assisted the Property Management team with the transition to an in-house service.

Our priority was to help make sure there was maximum safety and comfort for the older residents – a principle that came above all other considerations.
